What is being analysed here?

The presence of antibodies against varicella-zoster virus (VZV) in the blood is being analysed here.

When is it requested?

It is requested when verifying immunity to VZV is necessary, when there is a risk of complications related to VZV, or when symptoms of infection are present.

Why is this analysis performed?

To determine if a person is immune to VZV and to identify those at risk of complications.

When should this analysis be carried out?

For non-immune individuals or those at risk of complications. It should also be carried out in pregnant women, newborns, adolescents, adults with varicella symptoms, and people with weakened immune systems.

What sample is required?

A sample of blood from a vein or fluid from a blister is needed.

Is any special preparation required?

No special preparation is necessary.

How is it used?

Blood tests detect VZV antibodies. Tests using blister fluid aim to detect the virus.
