Blood tests analyse antibodies related to hepatitis A. These antibodies include IgM anti-HAV and HAV-Ab IgG.

What does the result mean?

Negative or non-reactive: Indicates no antibodies against hepatitis A in your blood. Positive or reactive: May indicate an active infection with the hepatitis A virus (HAV). Also suggests a past HAV infection or prior hepatitis A vaccination.

To detect or confirm hepatitis A infection. 

When is this analysis performed?

When there is suspicion of HAV infection or in high-risk situations.

A blood sample is needed.

What do normal values indicate?

Negative or non-reactive indicates an absence of HAV antibodies. Positive or reactive indicates the presence of HAV antibodies.
