What is analysed in a complement analysis?

The complement analysis measures the levels of different complement system proteins in the blood.

What does the result mean?

The results can indicate the activity and function of the complement system. Low values may be associated with autoimmune disorders, infections, or inflammatory conditions.

Why is this analysis carried out?

It is done to evaluate immune function and detect potential conditions. It also helps diagnose diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus, glomerulonephritis, and hereditary angioedema.

When is this analysis performed?

Requested when there is suspicion of autoimmune diseases or immunodeficiencies. Also used for monitoring treatment response.

What sample is required?

A venous blood sample is collected. Preparation: Generally, no special preparation is needed. Follow your doctor’s instructions.

How is it used?

Results are interpreted in conjunction with clinical context and other tests. They guide therapeutic decisions.

What do altered levels mean?

Low C3 or C4 levels may indicate autoimmune diseases. Elevated values may be related to infections or inflammation.
