Dr David Mulcahy is a senior Irish consultant cardiologist based in Dublin, associated with institutions such as Tallaght University Hospital and the Hermitage Clinic. He qualified from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1981 and trained in leading cardiac centres in London, including the National Heart Hospital and Royal Brompton, as well as undertaking research at the U.S. National Institutes of Health.
He later returned to Ireland, where he played a key role in developing cardiology services at Tallaght Hospital and has been involved in specialist heart failure care. Mulcahy is also noted for his research on conditions such as silent ischaemia and heart disease prevention, with numerous peer-reviewed publications, and for founding initiatives like the Centre for Cardiac Risk in Younger Persons in collaboration with the CRY charity, aimed at improving detection and prevention of sudden cardiac death.
